The Climate Adaptation Partnerships (CAP) program, operating within the Climate and Societal Interactions division of the Climate Program Office, is a research and engagement initiative focused on enhancing regional resilience to climate impacts in the United States. Supported by 5-year cooperative agreements with NOAA, CAP fosters collaborative relationships among research institutions, nonprofits, and state/local/Tribal governments in multi-state regions. The program emphasizes the importance of social contexts in climate adaptation and resilience, advocating for inclusive and sustained learning across diverse experts, practitioners, and the public. CAP prioritizes a holistic approach, integrating social, physical, and natural sciences to support communities in adapting to climate change. The program encourages innovative and solution-oriented approaches, aiming to bridge scientific silos and build a national network of resilience researchers and adaptation science specialists. Currently, CAP is seeking applications for new teams in the Upper Northeast and Southeast regions.
