This initiative supports the career development of new investigators interested in entrepreneurship within small businesses. It offers funding for small business concerns (SBCs) to employ and develop researchers as entrepreneurial Program Directors/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs). Alongside advancing research and development, the program emphasizes entrepreneurial training, mentoring, and career development for PDs/PIs. Ideal candidates are experienced in research, technology development, or healthcare delivery but lack entrepreneurial and independent project leadership experience. The goal is to enhance their entrepreneurial skills while developing technologies and products that align with NIH’s mission to improve health and save lives.
