The Urban Future Prize Competition showcases and awards the world’s most revolutionary cleantech innovations by bringing the brightest entrepreneurs together with mission-driven investors, policy leaders, and corporate sponsors for a prestigious cleantech summit in New York City. Through generous support from The New York Community Trust and NYSERDA, we are able to offer each of two winners a $50,000 cash prize and admission into the ACRE incubator at the Urban Future Lab, New York City’s longest running cleantech incubator program.

Annually, the Urban Future Lab holds a major conference for a community of climate entrepreneurs, technologists, government officials, business leaders, investors, and innovators in New York City. We celebrate the commitment of industry leaders to take constructive measures to improve and benefit our planet. We feature speakers with real solutions to environmental challenges and showcase entrepreneurs working on climate change solutions.

The Urban Future Prize Competition seeks entrepreneurs who are building world-class startups that are contributing to a more resilient and sustainable planet. Two grand prizes of $50K will be awarded to two companies encompassing this drive and mission to address the greatest challenge of our time. The Prize is a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit and awards the best solutions to the climate change crisis.
Eligible startups are those that address climate change through technology or business model innovations. Categories include, but are not limited to:
Smart City (Resource-Productive and Equitable Solutions for Urban Development)
Smart Grid (Utility Solutions for a Digital, Decentralized, and Decarbonized Grid)
Renewable Energy (Hydrogen, Geothermal, Offshore Wind)
Transportation (EVs, EV Charging)
Buildings (Energy Efficiency)
Waste Management (Circular Economy)
Agriculture (Crop Analytics, Urban Sustainable Farming)
Carbon Capture and Utilization
A $50,000 cash prize and admittance to the internationally acclaimed ACRE incubator will be awarded to two grand prize winners. Winners of the competition will gain access to ACRE’s community of expert advisors, mentors, and investors who will help to scale their businesses and accelerate their paths to success. ACRE companies have raised more than $600 million in follow-on funding, created over 530 green jobs, and have a survival rate of 90% since the program’s inception in 2009.
