Beacon Climate Innovations is a new venture launched in 2020 at Greentown Labs by Moneer Azzam and colleagues bringing more than 5 decades combined experience in the renewable energy and infrastructure space to the endeavor. It has been steadily building the scaffolding for a super highway between the evolving climate tech industry and the municipalities, local utilities, industries and business at the frontlines of climate change and energy transition in most need such tools. It started with webinars and panel sessions featuring municipal leaders, researchers and industry pioneers. This was followed by dynamic information/idea exchanges between stakeholders (e.g., utility cooperatives, developers, city officials) and the formation of the Resilient Energy and Infrastructure Consortium (REIC). This has led to the development of innovative, cross-pollinating projects such as low income residential facility heating-cooling retrofit using heat pumps with integrated thermal storage integrated into virtual power plant for grid support and community resilience and PV Canopy with level 3 EV charging and multi function BESS deployed through novel local business-community smart platform.
We are looking for community, end-user, technical and financial partners interested in joining our ecosystem - exchanging information/ideas, developing projects/programs and expanding our collective knowledge and reach.
