GismoPower: Pioneering Portable Solar Solutions for a Renewable Future

GismoPower is a forward-thinking renewable energy innovator focused on creating accessible and affordable solar energy solutions, particularly for lower-to-moderate-income (LMI) households and small businesses. Founded on the belief that everyone should have direct access to clean energy, GismoPower designs and develops portable, plug-in photovoltaic (PV) systems that seamlessly integrate with everyday living spaces, transforming solar energy into a practical, user-friendly appliance.

Our flagship product, the Mobile Electric Generating Appliance (MEGA), redefines what solar energy can be. The MEGA is a patented, portable solar carport that delivers renewable power to homes and electric vehicles (EVs) via a standard 240V outlet, sidestepping traditional rooftop and ground-mounted solar restrictions. This modular solar solution plugs directly into existing outlets, empowering homeowners, renters, and small business owners to harness solar energy without the significant barriers of permitting, custom installation, or long-term structural changes.

Mission and Vision
Our mission is to make solar energy as accessible as any household appliance—personal, immediate, and adaptable. GismoPower aims to bridge the energy divide, helping underserved communities achieve energy independence, reduce electricity costs, and support environmental sustainability. With a portable approach, we strive to revolutionize how renewable energy is accessed, moving beyond fixed installations and expanding solar’s reach to every sunny driveway or parking space.

Commitment to Lower-Income and Underserved Markets
The MEGA specifically addresses the needs of those often left out of the renewable energy transition: LMI households, renters, and transient small business owners. Unlike traditional solar systems that are out of reach for these groups due to cost, space, and regulatory limitations, the MEGA is affordable, portable, and free from permitting delays. By bringing renewable energy into a familiar plug-and-play format, we provide a scalable solution for communities that would benefit most from reduced energy costs and sustainable power generation.
Environmental and Social Impact
GismoPower is committed to addressing climate change by accelerating the adoption of distributed renewable energy. Our portable PV systems support the grid during peak demand, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to grid resilience. We partner with federal and local entities, aligning our goals with government initiatives such as the DOE’s Justice40 and Communities LEAP programs, which focus on environmental justice and equitable access to clean energy solutions for disadvantaged communities.
Research, Development, and Innovation
Backed by technical support from the DOE’s SBIR Phase II grant, GismoPower has developed MEGA systems designed to meet UL safety standards, ensuring reliability and user safety. Our R&D focus includes continued improvement of bifacial PV panels and efficient EV charging interfaces, optimizing solar output and reducing the soft costs typically associated with renewable installations. Our collaboration with research institutions and regulatory bodies allows us to stay at the forefront of technology while actively engaging in discussions on permitting reform to benefit plug-in solar solutions nationwide.
A Vision for the Future
GismoPower envisions a future where solar energy is democratized and accessible to all. By 2033, our goal is to deploy over 360 MW of residential solar power in the U.S., directly serving more than 100,000 LMI households. We’re building a movement for energy equity, leveraging innovative financing options, community partnerships, and scalable technology to reshape the solar landscape.
