Winston Cone Optics (WCO) is a solar thermal technology developer based out of Merced, CA
Our mission is to provide a reliable, low-cost, and low-carbon solar heating solution which will enable industries to rapidly decarbonize their process heating, today.
We do this by providing a robust solar thermal heating system which delivers reliable and low-cost solar heat directly into your process, replacing or reducing traditional fossil energy sources.
What makes us unique is our patented solar thermal technology which uses nonimaging optics to focus sunlight year-round from a stationary position.
By combining nonimaging optics with evacuated receiver tube technology, we can readily generate low-carbon heat up to 300 F from a stationary collector.
We benefit from the simplicity and low-cost of non-tracking systems while generating high temperatures useful for industrial process heating.
About us:
We are an R&D team with 10+ years of experience in solar energy at the University of California, Merced.
We specialize in nonimaging optics, a field invented by WCO's founder and CEO Dr. Roland Winston.
As a startup we are focused on using our expertise and patented collector technology to deploy solar thermal systems in the field, providing cost savings and emissions reductions for our customers.
