The U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Office is offering a funding opportunity to support research, development, and demonstration activities for driving innovations that can lead to the large-scale deployment of clean energy technologies. This funding opportunity will focus on three technology areas - variable renewable energy sources, inverter-based resources, and distributed energy resources - and develop state-of-the-art planning and operation tools that will enable solar energy to be more efficiently utilized, thereby providing Americans with more cheap and secure sources of clean energy. The funding opportunity aligns with the Biden Administration’s goal of achieving carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
