The Economic Development Administration (EDA) is focused on leading the way for Federal economic development by promoting innovation and competitiveness and preparing American regions for success in the global economy. The EDA achieves its mission through strategic investments and partnerships that create regional economic ecosystems to foster competitiveness throughout the United States. The EDA supports job creation and attracts private investment in economically distressed areas of the country. The EDA has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for investments in construction, non-construction, planning, technical assistance, and revolving loan fund projects under EDA's Public Works program and EAA program, including Assistance to Coal Communities, Nuclear Closure Communities, and Biomass Closure Communities. The grants and cooperative agreements are designed to leverage existing regional assets and implement economic development strategies that support new ideas and approaches to promote economic prosperity in distressed communities, including those affected by changes in the coal and nuclear power industries.
