Description

The Climate Adaptation Partnerships (CAP) program, operating within the Climate and Societal Interactions division of the Climate Program Office, is a research and engagement initiative focused on enhancing regional resilience to climate impacts in the United States. Supported by 5-year cooperative agreements with NOAA, CAP fosters collaborative relationships among research institutions, nonprofits, and state/local/Tribal governments in multi-state regions. The program emphasizes the importance of social contexts in climate adaptation and resilience, advocating for inclusive and sustained learning across diverse experts, practitioners, and the public. CAP prioritizes a holistic approach, integrating social, physical, and natural sciences to support communities in adapting to climate change. The program encourages innovative and solution-oriented approaches, aiming to bridge scientific silos and build a national network of resilience researchers and adaptation science specialists. Currently, CAP is seeking applications for new teams in the Upper Northeast and Southeast regions. More information about CAP can be found at https://cpo.noaa.gov/Divisions-Programs/Climate-and-Societal-Interactions/CAP-RISA.
