Focused on supporting early-stage concepts in maritime or "blue" technologies, the prize addresses challenges such as predicting tropical storms, monitoring aquaculture for food security, and understanding the ocean's role in climate change mitigation. The competition, divided into CONCEPT and DEVELOP phases, offers winners cash prizes totaling up to $1.7 million, along with support in training, testing, and networking. Eligible participants include individuals, private entities, nonfederal government entities, and academic institutions. The timeline spans from November 2023 to June 2025.
