NYSERDA issues a second round of funding to catalyze and de-risk novel approaches to significantly increase the scale of negative emissions and carbon sequestration, reduce waste-related methane and advance New York's clean energy goals.

Description

NYSERDA is issuing Round 2 of funding for two Challenge Areas:

  1. Innovations in Green Cooling: Research, development, and demonstration of tools, technologies and strategies that increase adoption, performance, and benefits of nature-based approaches to passive cooling, resilience, and reliability in extreme heat.
  2. Carbon Negative Buildings: Demonstration, introduction and scale up of carbon negative products in New York State that support building energy efficiency.


Successful projects will be able to self-sustain beyond the period funded by NYSERDA, catalyze additional private investment if needed, and may inform changes to policy. Submissions must demonstrate significant improvements over the current state of practice with scalable approaches to address the goals of New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, including GHG emissions reductions, benefits to rate payers, disadvantaged communities, resilience, and the environment.


Phase 1

Phase 1 proposals selected for award must accept NYSERDA’s standard terms

and conditions in the Sample Agreement (Attachment E) without exceptions. Phase 1 contracts will not be negotiated. Note: Phase 1 contracts are not subject

to recoupment and cost share is optional.

  1. A project is expected to begin within four months of the Phase 1 proposal due date. Delays by the proposer beyond this period may result in disqualification of the award.
  2. Phase 1 will have a duration of 4 months with a pre-defined Statement of Work (see Attachments C1 and C2; specific to each challenge area)
  3. Anticipated NYSERDA Interactions with Phase 1 Teams and schedule


Phase 2 – INVITATION ONLY

  1. Phase 2 qualification is contingent on a Phase 1 award, completion of Phase 1 deliverables, and submital of a Phase 2 proposal. A Scoring Committee will be convened to evaluate the Phase 2 proposal.
  2. NYSERDA will enter into new contracts with proposers selected for a Phase 2 awards.
  3. The anticipated maximum Phase 2 period will be 24 months, however, reporting requirements to NYSERDA may continue beyond 24 months. In rare circumstances, exceptions may be made to extend the period of performance and will be at the sole discretion of NYSERDA.
