Description
The JEF Fellowship is a curated programme designed for ambitious individuals who are committed to advancing the energy transition in Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Participants work directly with the fund’s investment and business-development teams on tasks such as sourcing and diligence of climate-tech startups, supporting portfolio companies, and helping to launch a new accelerator aimed at helping Japanese climate-tech ventures expand globally. They also engage in the fund’s “Japan Climate Connect” platform, helping connect global environmental-technology startups with Japanese corporations, government stakeholders and market opportunities. Ideal candidates include current MBA or graduate-level students, early-career professionals from consulting, finance or engineering backgrounds, or those with relevant energy/climate tech interest. Fluency in English and Japanese is strongly preferred. The Fellowship is located in Tokyo and San Francisco, emphasising cross-border exposure and the intersection of innovation and Japanese market expansion. Through the programme, fellows gain hands-on exposure to venture-capital activity in climate tech, build meaningful network ties with Japanese corporates and ecosystem players, and receive tailored mentorship and coaching — with the possibility of transitioning into full-time roles post-fellowship.
