CBE’s research team studies technologies that hold promise for making buildings more environmentally friendly, more productive to work in, and more economical to operate. We have also developed new ways to 'take the pulse' of buildings in operation — measuring the occupants’ responses to their indoor environments, and linking them to physical measurements of indoor environmental quality. We continue to create and improve a collection of building design tools which are used annually by thousands of industry professionals and researchers.
We do this work in close collaboration with CBE’s industry partners, a diverse set of industry and government organizations. Their perspectives help CBE to focus on relevant and timely topics, and many partners are also actively involved in CBE research activities.
