Autonomous charging solutions are increasingly becoming part of the electrified transportation ecosystem, especially in public transportation, logistics, port application, material handling, and passenger cars. Autonomous, robotic fast-charging solutions in combination with opportunity charging will enable us to offer fleet customers smaller battery packs, reducing vehicle weight and energy consumption. Other benefits include higher fleet availability, reduced risk of depleted batteries during operations, and predictable availability of charging infrastructure.
Making use of existing standard charging connectors, such as CCS, the Rocsys solution will work seamlessly with fleets of electric buses, trucks, and off-road vehicles to scale pilots into larger fleet applications. Autonomous charging solutions have come in other forms; pantograph, wireless charging, and other alternatives have long been evaluated. Conductive side-body autonomous charging enables fleets to automate the charging process without extensive changes on the vehicle side; the Rocsys autonomous solution works with existing vehicles in a fleet through minimal retrofit and is futureproof for scaling fleets. The infrastructure add-on costs are also minimal in comparison to alternative autonomous charging solutions.
