Carbon capture using biocomposite building materials in construction projects
Organization Overview

We are Aaron Grail Consulting and Construction (AGC2), a custom residential home builder specializing in high-performance buildings in northern California. Our techniques utilize a fundamental understanding of building science and cutting-edge technology to produce the best-performing buildings available today.

We have recently decided to focus on providing one of the highest-value building assembles in terms of both performance and health, Hemp-lime construction or Hempcrete.

Hemp based building materials are at the forefront of green building and sustainable design. Green materials are judged on their ability to provide the same, or better, technical performance as compared to traditional building materials, and, more importantly, their impact on the planet.  Hemp and lime based biocomposite insulation, known as “hempcrete”, can be produced sustainably from a highly renewable resource that sequesters carbon as it grows.  The resulting insulation is carbon-negative, and has great thermal, moisture, fire resistance, and acoustic properties.

Our mission is to actively store carbon in the walls of our homes, and in doing so, dramatically improve their health and energy efficiency in the process.  We are dedicated to the development of applications for hemp and lime materials that reach beyond their capacity for thermal and fire resistance. With our partners at Americhanvre, we are excited to help bridge the gap between sustainability and affordability in our choice of building materials to make a real impact on climate change and the health of all people in our buildings and, on the planet.

AGC2 is also committed to actively supporting and promoting our local economy where possible, and to promote the growth and well-being of our clients and employees.  We believe that decentralization and localization are key for ecosystem resiliency at all scales, in biology and economy.

We are looking for partners to help us in our mission to deploy this carbon capture material in our next multi-family project in Sonoma County and to make it widely available to other builders in California at scale.

Please let us know if you can help put us in contact with the folks who can help drive this forward.
