Ebike Cargo is a visionary seed stage start-up based in San Diego CA. We specialize in the design and manufacture of smart, securely locking cargo systems for bicycles. Our executive team has years of start-up experience and has built two successful companies while creating new and innovative product categories. Our mission at Ebike Cargo is to help people and organizations gracefully transition to sustainable mobility and logistics. Affordable, sustainable bicycle transportation and logistics are rapidly growing in popularity worldwide. Yet bike users struggle to carry around their daily needs; goods, gear, passengers and pets safely and securely by bicycle. Backpacks, panniers and milk crates are not sufficient to meet most commuters' needs and are prone to theft and damage.
The Velocker™ system is the first locking, weatherproof, convertible cargo solution to be brought to market. Our secure, versatile cargo and passenger carrying solutions are the missing link to sustainable bike mobility for millions of global citizens. Our current product line includes three sizes of Velocker cases, with robust and compatible attachment systems and a growing list of options and accessories. Complete with removable lids, tie-down points, insulated liners and customizable wraps, our products are a transformational, sticky solution for current and aspiring bike commuters.
We are currently a 4 person team working on scaling two innovative, hardware product businesses. We operate out of an office and workshop space at Safe Harbor Boatyard on Shelter Island near downtown San Diego.
Brian Hoffman is our founder, lead product designer and CEO. Chris Hempstead is our CFO and Director of Operations. Coleman Smith is our E-Commerce Lead and Marketing Director. Konstantin Karpenko is our Technical Lead and assembler. We also expect to hire an experienced salesperson in the next 2-3 weeks.
Ebike Cargo is 100% owned by Brian Hoffman. We own the trademark for "Velocker" and the www.EbikeCargo.com URL. We own CAD/SW designs for our current Velocker product line, including 3 sizes of cases and 9 proprietary clamp designs for mounting to different rack tubing diameters.
We currently use local local contract manufacturers to laser cut, bend and assemble the cases and to CNC machine our clamp parts. We use some off the shelf parts and fasteners for our hinge and lock assemblies and our proprietary clamping system. We have built out a robust and reliable supply chain that we continue to diversify as we grow. We are also exploring overseas manufacturing alternatives in western Europe and Asia where there is currently a great demand for this product.
EbikeCargo is a bootstrapped effort built around a truly important product and a passionate team. We are fully aware that in order to scale our efforts from a small maker business to a global mobility unicorn is a heavy lift and will require significant capital and expertise. We deeply believe that our simple innovations can have significant positive effects on global emissions and health as we scale bicycle mobility uptake around the world.
We hope to build a big tent and inspire conversations about the realities of our current climate predicament. It is very important that this idea gets to market sooner than later. By drastically reducing our energy use for local transportation and logistics, we can make huge reductions in emissions. The Velocker is what the future of sustainable mobility looks like and will be an enduring technology in the decades to come. Join us.
