According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, "the long-term success of the solar industry depends on the cost-effective integration of energy storage". Meanwhile, EV batteries are difficult and expensive to recycle, but they typically retain over 70% of their energy storage capacity at the end of their useful lives in vehicles.
RePurpose Energy makes use of this battery waste to more sustainably and more affordably store solar energy for use after sunset. In doing so, the team aims to enable the transition to clean transportation and renewable energy.
